New Premises

A local company, Professional Protection Systems, of Woburn Sands, who specialise in providing terrorist response organisations throughout the world with the technology that will enable them to decontaminate individuals or whole populations after a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear attack enjoyed such a boom in sales worldwide last year that it has been obliged to move to larger premises.
The new premises will serve both as PPS’s number one manufacturing unit as well as its corporate headquarters. They are located at Tilbrook, only a couple of miles away from the old one, in the rapidly running-down Nampak site at Woburn Sands. Since the management buy-out from Nampak a couple of years ago by PPS MD, Mark Whitcher the company has more than trebled its sales. It is currently exporting decontamination technology to no less than 60 countries leaving the old premises bursting at the seams, despite the fact of having established additional manufacturing facilities in the Czech Republic and Mexico. “ When we announced the setting up of the Mexican facility some of our employees assumed immediately it was the prelude to shutting up shop here and moving over there” said Whitcher. “Despite my assurances to the contrary I suspect our Mexican venture has continued to be a little bit of a worry. I hope this move is going to reassure them that PPS doesn’t just believe its future is in the UK but right here in Milton Keynes”.
The new premises will also provide PPS with the capacity for a considerable extension of its markets and a new range of products is to be introduced early next year aimed at police and fire services.
