Professional Protection Systems - PPS
- OUR BACKGROUND...

Since the introduction of our ground-breaking inflatable decontamination shower units in 1996 PPS has become recognised, by emergency services internationally, as a world leader in the manufacture of decontamination equipment. Notable for its ease of transport and swift deployment. In the wake of hazmat and terrorist incidents, PPS is developing new systems to meet the urgent demands of a modern and increasingly hostile world.

In addition PPS is one of the world's leading designer and manufacturer of protective clothing for use in every kind of hazardous environment. We are also a market leader in the design and manufacture of air fed suits.

PPS is an ISO 9001/2000 accredited company and implements manufacturing and general business systems that are firmly rooted in a responsible awareness to provide the safest and the best possible solutions for our customers.

world leader in the manufacture of decontamination equipment

Strategic alliances made with the best international material suppliers and designers, a world-wide network of distributors, a skilled and dedicated workforce using the most advanced computer aided design and manufacturing technology, has all combined to place PPS at the top of a demanding and knowledgeable market.

Founded in 1945, originally as Plysu Protection Systems and utilising specially developed and unique welding technology, PPS started manufacturing early light weight protective garments, such as PVC rainwear and cycling capes, and has played an important roll in the history of plastics.

By the late fifties the new nuclear power industry had created the need for Personal Protective Equipment of an unprecedented standard. New materials, combined with our special welding technology, rapidly made the company UK leader in air fed nuclear suit production, bringing in its wake orders for suits for use in a variety of other hazardous environments. The company also acquired some "extra terrestrial" business a few years later; making the Ice Warriors’ suits for Dr.Who, the longest running British Sci-Fi TV series on record.

PPS is highly versatile and still at the forefront of events. This was demonstrated by the introduction by PPS of the first inflatable decontamination shower unit in 1996. Today our inflatable and articulated frame decontamination products are to be found all around the world. In Germany they are standard equipment with many of the fire and rescue services and in the wake of the Sarin incident in Tokyo a few years ago, Japan’s emergency services have equipped themselves with PPS decontamination technology. Daily, this equipment, along with PPS protective clothing, can be found in use as far apart as Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, New Zealand, New Plymouth, New York and the Middle East and a PPS inflatable is the standard unit for the NHS hospital trusts and some fire and ambulance services. It all comes with a high quality customer service and maintenance package. Products are available bespoke, or off the shelf, and the range of optional accessories is one of the largest available anywhere.

The mass-decontamination systems needs of HM Government are also met by PPS. These are articulated metal frame rather than inflatable but enjoy the same characteristics of swift deployment. In 2006, in a typical ground-breaking move, PPS announced the introduction of a mid-decontamination unit. Manufactured from a large component of rubberised material it sits between the two concepts – offering greater longevity than the traditional inflatable but a considerable cost saving on a metal frame. There is no other company in the world able to offer these alternatives.

Indeed over the past 10 years PPS has focused a lot of time and effort on putting together an accessory range, assembled from the world’s best, embracing everything from water heaters to lights, from flooring to communications systems, which enables the user to specify a customised product. This development reflects the PPS philosophy that the old customer-supplier relationship is gone. In its place a partnership is emerging with PPS playing the role of consultant, advisor and responder to its partners’ needs.
