New Range Offers Safe Containment Of Contaminated Water

A range of bladders, to assure the completely safe containment of contaminated water collected during the decontamination process, is being offered by Professional Protection Systems. Manufacturers and suppliers of the NHS standard decontamination shower as well as mass decontamination units for HM Government PPS equipment is deployed daily by emergency services all over the world.
The bladders come in 500,1000 and 6000 litre sizes. All three units are made from the same heavy-duty inflatable material, giving them an unusually tough resistance to rip, tear or puncture regardless of the terrain.

Designed to be filled from the PPS waste water pump and hose all the couplings required are supplied with the units, which can be connected together to give a larger capacity if required. They include Stortz couplings and a safety butterfly valve for inlet and outlet, whilst an over pressure valve on the top cap allows air to escape as the bag fills.

Refinements Will Speed Casualty Decontamination
Two refinements to standard decontamination equipment designed to speed the decontamination of casualties up are announced by Professional Protection Systems.

Suppliers of the NHS standard decontamination shower as well as of mass-decon facilities to HM Government equipment PPS also supply similar equipment to emergency services all over the world. These two new developments are the direct result of consultation with these users of PPS equipment.

The first development is an automatic dosing system (ADS) for use in the decontamination facility that delivers a controlled amount of detergent to the water system to allow a thorough decontamination of casualties. The second is a casualty movement control system (CMCS). This offers an automated system of dealing with contaminated personnel and can be used in conjunction with the ADS.

Surge In Training Brings “Rogue” Liner Alert
PPS Warning About Non-Standard Equipment

The recent dramatic increase in training being carried out in decontamination procedures by fire and ambulance services and within the health service generally has led to a warning from leading decontamination equipment manufacturer, Professional Protection Systems, to those in charge of training to ensure that standard equipment is used.

Particularly important, where exercises are planned in connection with decontamination showers, is firstly that Trusts and Hospitals know the training liner is available instead of soiling the relatively expensive NBC liner and secondly to ensure that only the manufacturer’s training liner is used.

The function of the liner is to protect the shower unit from decontamination so it must fit perfectly and be made of the right material.

New PPS System To Keep Customers At Cutting Edge Of Decon Technology
The decontamination technology universe is a rapidly expanding one. In fact it is expanding so fast that the end users, both managers and practitioners, whether they be in ambulance, fire, emergency services, military or corporate operations, are finding it difficult to keep up with exactly what is available, according to one of the world’s biggest decontamination technology companies, Professional Protection Systems.

Managing Director Mark Whitcher says that PPS have discovered a growing “knowledge gap” amongst its customers in 60 countries about the equipment that is “Unless we close this gap our customers are going to find it hard to come up with the optimum solution to whatever problem they are addressing” says Whitcher. “Also they may not be getting best value for money”.
