DECON SPECIALISTS MANUFACTURE FOR BEAUTIFUL GAME
Often perceived as one of those companies who only come out with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Professional Protection Systems has discovered a fun side to its commercial operations in making equipment for the Beautiful Game.
The core business of Milton Keynes based PPS is supplying emergency services all over the world with decontamination showers, whether they be for decontamination of protective clothing after a chemical spill or a whole population after a terrorist incident.
Many of the company’s showers are plastic inflatables and the technology involved in their construction was exactly what a company called Wall2Wall Futbol™ were looking for.
One of the world’s leading specialists in the organisation of football promotions, Wall2Wall do the lot. Road shows, tournaments, beach soccer, football villages or corporate hospitality, all are grist to the Wall2Wall mill, but with a fundamental difference from most other event organisers. This is because when Wall2Wall was launched by three former exhibition men, Joel Nathan, Paul Singer and Giles Perry three years ago, it was with the intention that it should not only own all of its venues it should be able to transport them anywhere as well.
Hence inflatable venues, and PPS with their track record in inflatable technology were just the people to make them. Amongst a host of different inflatable venues offered by Wall2Wall is the unit called a Futbol Court. According to Perry, who is the company’s Marketing Director the Wall2Wall Futbol Court changes the way that standard five a side football is perceived. The unit is an instant inflatable regulation size five-a-side court enclosed at the sides, with side netting and inflatable walls providing an exciting safer alternative to the traditional boards used in 5-a-side games. What’s more it can be up and ready to go in just 30 minutes.
The enclosure, which can be erected on sand or grass, can also be used as an arena suitable for exhibitions, road shows and corporate events. Describing the unit as “a sponsor’s dream” Perry says any branding scheme can be incorporated, both permanent and non-permanent and offers room for 44 removable re-usable banners that can be sold to third party advertisers. This is just the start of the range and Wall2Wall offer a whole football village with scope for a positive orgy of branding.
According to Mark Whitcher, Managing Director of PPS, essentially the same materials and technology go into the creation of an inflatable Decon shelter as one of Wall2Wall’s Futbol Courts. The difference is he says “that its nice to be involved in making something which you know will be used and enjoyed a lot, rather than making something which you hope will never have to be used”
