June 2003 - PPS ANNOUNCES ALLIANCE WITH
AMERICA’S MAJOR MILITARY DECON SUPPLIER
A formidable grouping in the global terrorist response technology sector comes into being with the announcement of an alliance between the UK’s Professional Protection Systems and the US TVI corporation of Glenn Dale, Maryland. The first fruits of this co-operation can be seen in the revolutionary mass decontamination showers based on TVI technology that are being supplied by PPS as part of the UK government’s £53m New Dimension terrorist response initiative.
TVI are the major suppliers of decon technology to the US military and their range of products , besides decon ,units includes chem./bio isolation chambers suitable for corporate as well as emergency services and military use, plus a comprehensive range of accessories.

The strategic objective behind the alliance, according to PPS MD, Mark Whitcher, is to extend the global reach of both companies. “Terrorism is global and our industry has to be global” says Whitcher “We need to be able to offer our customers in the 50 countries to which we currently sell the widest possible choice of options, as well as increasingly effective and sophisticated technologies. We see our alliance with TVI as a way of delivering this agenda”.
Whitcher also sees TVI technology as working very well with the product at the core of the PPS success story, the free standing inflatable decon shower. Originally developed by the company as a swift and effective response to Hazmat incidents it has evolved, because of its flexibility, into a cost effective mass decon system in universal use with the world’s emergency services.

The TVI units being offered by PPS all reflect the company’s ability to inject a strong customised element into all of its products and the alliance has already developed customised offers on both sides of the Atlantic. Like the inflatable range the articulating frame shelter range will come with a wide range of accessories. Everything from water heaters, warm air heaters and litter conveyors to lighting, in fact, to enable PPS to deliver a complete system to almost any specification.
