PPS NEWS New PPS System To Keep Customers At Cutting Edge Of Decon Technology The decontamination technology universe is a rapidly expanding one. In fact it is expanding so fast that the end users, both managers and practitioners, whether they be in ambulance, fire, emergency services, military or corporate operations, are finding it difficult to keep up with exactly what is available, according to one of the world’s biggest decontamination technology companies, Professional Protection Systems.3. Managing Director Mark Whitcher says that PPS have discovered a growing “knowledge gap” amongst its customers in 60 countries about the equipment that is available. “Unless we close this gap our customers are going to find it hard to come up with the optimum solution to whatever problem they are addressing” says Whitcher. “Also they may not be getting best value for money”. |

To help relieve this problem PPS has come up with a new system of quoting for work that will show, and price, every accessory and service that could be employed on the contract being quoted. “Of course nobody is under any obligation to invest in extras” says Whitcher, “but at least they will get to know what is out there and therefore be able to make knowledge-based decisions”. An example of how the market has expanded in size and complexity is PPS’s DPI inflatable decontamination shower. First introduced in 1996 it has in 10 years and two generations later become the standard Hazmat incident unit of fire and emergency services all over the world. When it was first introduced there were three possible performance- enhancing accessories. Now there are 33, including everything from waste-water pumps, forced air heaters, high capacity water heaters, boot baths and decon basins, raised flooring, water pressure reducers and specialist lighting to name but a few. “It’s all happening so quickly” says Whitcher. “Ten years ago when we introduced the DPI there was hardly a decontamination business at all, now it is growing exponentially with many short term players entering the market for a fast buck. I am not surprised our customers sometimes have difficulty keeping up”. PPS keeps up because it has an executive dedicated to tracking down new technologies from all over the world as part of the customer service operation and a bespoke design team to keep up with customers’ individual demands. |
