May 2003 - DECONTAMINATION FORUM TO HELP BRIDGE KNOWLEDGE GAP

PPS Announces New Information and Training Initiative.

Although the deployment of new decontamination technologies is accelerating in the UK , mainly in the wake of terrorist threat, there are still vast gaps in both the knowledge of the technical parameters of this new equipment amongst emergency service , as well as in their readiness and preparedness to use it. As part of an attempt to address this PPS is holding the first of what it hopes will be a series of Decon Forums at its Milton Keynes headquarters. The first is schedule to be held
May 2003.
  Forum Day at PPS

“Of course I don’t imagine for a minute that PPS is going to solve the problem alone but I do hope our event will help to get some more official focus on the problem as well as being informative for the participants”, says PPS’s Director and General Manager Mark Whitcher. Right now PPS reckons that it not only has a unique and bespoke range of products to introduce but some useful insights into how emergency services throughout the world are addressing the terrorist threat This is because PPS is supplying equipment everywhere on a global scale , customers ranging from the US Air Force and the Japanese Defence Organisation to provincial fire services in the Czech Republic. In the UK PPS is currently supplying the NHS and ambulance services with the first tendered official decon systems.

“We want to share the considerable knowledge we have gained in servicing our export markets with end users” says Whitcher. “It is desperately important that we do, and something that goes far beyond simple commercial interest”.

It is envisaged that PPS’s Forum will be a day long event, enabling participants to become involved in hands-on deployment of equipment, to familiarise themselves with the range of accessories and to learn about training programmes for both senior and junior staff.
